If you are open to the variety of formats available, a universal player is a good choice.Of course, the first thing to look for is music that you like.
It's unlikely that you would find any disc that was multi-channel only, so I wouldn't worry about finding a disc that wouldn't have 2-channel content. Some DVD-As can be difficult to navigate through due to file structure, but with a little patience, you can get to the 2-channel hi-rez part.
I also wouldn't take the histrionics of the Henny Penny set seriously that fears DualDiscs. They'll claim that DualDiscs are too thick and will damage your player, cause famine, pestilance and possibly the end of civilization, but there is no credible body of evidence to support those claims.
