About 20 years ago Melos made 400 watt triode, tube monoblocks for $10,000. Some dealers asked them to put a new, thicker front plate on the amps, call them a MK 2 model and double the price saying they could sell more amps at the higher price because buyers needed the security of a high price to feel secure that their purchase was worth it. Melos didn't do it.
