I've been trying various Class D amps since about 2002 (along with "traditional" amps). I was more serious about it when we were about to move in 2014 which would force me to give up my dedicated man cave listening room along with the big Manley's. So the search was on for smaller amps that would coexist with me in my smaller home office in the new home. That search included Class D amps.

I heard noticeable improvements in Class D over the years since 2002 but like anything else in audio some were good and others not so good. For example, I also had a Peachtree integrated. Mine was the Nova 150. It didn't sound so great. In fact the older Peachtree iDecco (Class AB) was much better. On the other hand my Wyred4Sound SX500 Class D monoblocks were very good. The PS Audio M700 monoblocks were excellent and I'm finding that the Purifi based NAD C298 are also excellent. I would say they are comparable to the M700's but a little different. The M700's were more typical PS Audio which means a tad bit more warmth and robustness. The Purifi based NAD is a little more transparent and revealing.

In any case, I've been very happy with the past couple of Class D amps in my system. No. They don't sound like tube amps but neither do Class AB solid-state. If you're curious, I'd try some Class D amps before giving up your V4 tube amps.

I have since regained more listening room space since we had our basement finished a few years ago but still.... I'm tired of lifting 50+ Lb amps and waiting for them to warmup before sounding their best.
