I am not aware of a chemical to rejuvenate plastics -
one of the fundamentals with plastics is that the monomer that causes the reaction to complete, and then solidify, often does not 'complete' the reaction for a long time (years) and if the monomer is, as most of them are highly volatile, it can evaporate or dissipate from the plastic, leaving it incomplete, or fragile.

I've read that Kenwood made some of their receivers before the Kenwood brand was imported to the U.S..

Plastic does "rot". And I believe those knobs are notorious for not surviving.

  All this brings up the question again that I raised a couple of months ago. Where are decent looking knobs available that can be used to replace the whole set? The dual concentric type are especially troubling as there seems no options available at all. I guess you could replace the pot with a simple 2 gang one, but other options appear limited.
