I have Psvane CV-181 mk2 (6SN7 equivalent) tubes that followed with an amp I bought. They are big and look elegant. The sound is very smooth and sweet but timbre is unnatural. Maybe good for those who want a very relaxing sound but not for realism in music.
My Soviet 6H8C from the 1960's sound better or go for the US NOS tubes recommended above.

Interested in this topic as I own a Freya + and am currently using Sylvania tubes.
Has anyone used 6 SL7's and how did they compare to 6SN7's.
It is generally not recommended to use other tube types than the device is designed for, other than direct or close equivalents.
Sure, you can get a different sound because of changed frequency response etc. But it is almost certainly colored. In some cases the device can work with more than one tube type but that is usually mentioned in the manual.
Randomly trying different tubes can in worst case damage the amp.
The manual states that the Freya will accommodate 6SL7, which is the reason for my question.
