Have you ever been inside one of those portables? ;-)I hate working on fullsize cassette decks; I can't even imagine tackling one of those for mechanical repair.
Maybe you'll get lucky & the belts will be OK -- you do have a realistic perspective, though, that they're most likely no longer supple or flexible -- or they've turned to goo.
Good luck (in all seriousness) & do keep us posted!
all the best,
mrh

Thank you for the kinds words! I have been a member of the Asylum since almost the beginning! I got on the Internet in my home back in 1997 & the first or second group\forum I joined was the Vintage Asylum!Even back then I was into vintage audio of all kinds! I am a proud owner of many ZENITH Radios including 3 different Trans-Oceanic's!I have a huge stock pile of Maxell type 1 tapes from the early 90's still sealed!Mostly the 60 mins.& 90 mins.but some 120's! This Zenith did a decent enough job using those tapes to record Old Time Radio Shows,news\sport programs, etc.over the years! That is why,I wanted to save it or try & find another one where the Heads were not worn!
