OK, Have you determined that the head is actually bad not just very dirty. Peer inside to see - can the cassette cover come off? How many heads are visible?
The deck was probably made in Japan - if so the head (it's probably a single head used for both record and play - maybe a separate erase head) were probably made by Panasonic. Good luck in trying to find a part number unless there is one on the head itself.
Nortronics in the US made a lot of replacement heads for cassette players. They had a catalog which you might find on line listing the brand/model numbers and a cross-reference to their heads. But again, finding one today????

Follow Ups:
As I intimated, there is a Nortronics cassette tape head replacement guide available on-line. Your Zenith model number is not listed in it.
Still not gonna give up! I have been looking all over the internet as I feel something will turn up at what I would consider a reasonable price!
My friend showed me the corrosion on the center of the record/play head! Was able to remove some of the corrosion, but he said the head is really not able to be saved and would have to be replaced.I have the ZENITH Service manual which list the part # as 942-232 for the record/play Head & 942-233 erase head.Thank you for your help!
