There's a thread on the Tube Asylum about eBay scammer realjazzcat. It's too important to be buried amongst the many posts, so I'm providing a link to it (see below).
Especially precious is realjazzcat's response to the buyer after he requested a full refund for a bad tube. Here's part of it:
"Tom, I received your threatening blackmail message. To think that I trusted you, and was about to send you trial tubes, with no pre-payment in an effort to help you out.Contrary to any slander and lies you may have read we STANDS BEHIND EACH AND EVERY Product we offer.
I don't know what you may have done to the tube, or any damage to it after it was shipped, if indeed there is a problem at all. I can not be responsible for your claim without seeing and re-testing the product myself. You need to read the terms and conditions before you agree to an eBay contract, nonetheless, I will make a courtesy exception. You may send back the tube for a refund, even though the terms and conditions are clearly posted as 7-day exchange, not refund, with return shipping paid by the Buyer. Your RMA # needs to be written on the outside of the box, it?s RMA # 102708EBAYTubeMuseumPO Box 75Tuxedo Park, New York 10987"
Well, isn't realjazzcat special for making a "courtesy exception"?

Follow Ups:
Realjazzcat did NOT follow my request for a refund in the manner I proposed. He did not give me a refund immediately, and he did NOT refund my cost to return the defective tube back to him. Because of this - but mostly due to the insight I've gained from many, many folks on this forum about how he tried to take advantage of my lack of knowledge and sell me tubes that were WAY overpriced, I have decided to give him negative feedback.
Here is what I left for him, his response, and also the feedback he left for me and my reply:
My neg feedback for him:
GOOGLE realjazzcat B4 you buy!! Seller takes advantage of newbies to overcharge.
His response:
USED A PERFECT TUBE AND RETURNED IT FOR FULL PAYPALREFUND - OBVIOUS TROUBLEMAKER
My reply to his response:
Why so many PRIVATE auctions? What are you hiding? Google him- he games system
---
RJC’s feedback for me:
NEGITAVE-PURCHASED TUBE SOLELY TO USE AND RETURN FOR FULL REFUND-CHEAPSKATE LIAR
and....
Follow-up by realjazzcat (Dec-03-08 14:52):
I received a threatening blackmail message from TOM TEST contact me for a copy
My reply to his response:
Just GOOGLE realjazzcat. MANY tales of him ripping off of newbies, + tube was BAD

The definition of ripoff:
1. A product or service that is overpriced or of poor quality.
2. Something, such as a film or story, that is clearly imitative of or based on something else.
3. A theft.
4. An act of exploitation.
Realjazzcat did not steal my money and give me nothing in return. He's not a thief. He's a ripoff artist who knows how to game eBay's feedback system. He certainly fits definitions 1 and 4.

Well.
Let's see.
The buyer agrees to the sellers contract.
The contract states what the refund policy is.
The buyers sends an "off-the-wall" derogatory threatening eMail demanding the seller break the contract.
The seller says that in spite of your threats we will give you a refund in stead of an exchange, BUT, you must mail the tube back to me first.
Once the seller receives a refund, then will you be HAPPY?

Bob - you are thinking only as a seller, not as a buyer who's been victimized by this scammer. Let's look at a few things:
1. Use the link below to look at a typical realjazzcat auction on eBay. There's so much bull, hype and outright lies, how are you supposed to figure out anything with this guy?
2. Realjazzcat clearly states in his auctions "We back our auctions with a 100% satisfaction guarantee." It sure doesn't sound like it to me. It's double-speak at best.
3. I didn't take the victims e-mail as threatening. After being victimized, he did some research, found out he's dealing with a scammer and sent a strongly worded e-mail basically saying that he wasn't going to take any crap from realjazzcat. It's too bad there are not more "Tom Tests" out there, refusing to be "bullied" by realjazzcat. If there were, realjazzcat would have many more negative feedback comments.
4. In dealing with the victim, Realjazzcat has twice tried to "up-sell" him, each offer worse than the previous. Another sure sign of a scammer.
5. A little history goes a long way here, do some research. Knowing realjazzcat's long history of scamming people and preying on tube newbies tells the complete story.
6. Realjazzcat's RMA# bullshit is laughable. Like he's some big corporation. He's a lone scammer out for every penny he can squeeze from as many suckers as he can. He's the WORST this hobby has to offer.
I can go on and on, but most people when presented with the facts and information get it. Some people still won't and that's what realjazzcat is banking on!
Gerry
Nice prose.
While I somewhat understand why you might not count RealJazzCat as top on your list to buy tubes from, I've seen his adds for a few years, your appraisal of my thoughts confuses me.
After all these years, I never realized I thought like a seller.
What can I do to think like a buyer?
If I buy tubes for another 10-15 years will I then think like a buyer?
How can I protect myself from being a victim of up selling?
If I sell some tubes and someone asks about a better sounding tube that costs more, how can I protect the buyer from becoming victimized by my answer?
If I point out a tube that might sounder better but costs less, do they become a victim of down selling?
If I buy a tube I'm looking for, but at a higher price than expected, am I a victim of level selling?
If someone buys a tube from me, at the price they expect, are they a victim of right selling?
If they buy a tube at the price they expect, and it exceeds their expectation, are they a victim of wrong selling?
If I plot tube performance vrs price and help someone buy a tube using that, are they a vector victim? If they don't buy, but enjoy the experience, are they vicarious vector victims? If I use vigor and threaten them, vicarious, very vigorish, vicious, vector, victims?
Thanks for the humor--it brightened up my day.

"After all these years, I never realized I thought like a seller. What can I do to think like a buyer?"My point was to put yourself in the shoes of the buyer/victim. It's very sad that you seem incapable of doing so.
Sure, people are responsible to educate themselves about something they are buying and don't know much about. I'm just trying to help them out a little. It's your right if you want to defend a verified liar and scammer.
By the way, I forgot one last thing. I don't normally resort to name calling, but I will make an exception in this case. You're an IDIOT! What's your eBay ID?

Thanks for the comical break from the junk political phone calls, and boring news coverage about what will happen tomorrow.
You have cooties.
Your mother dresses you funny.
She never puts cookies in your lunch box.
And, your head looks like a brussel sprout (yucky).
My eBay id is Insensitive IDIOT
Whenever I feel sad, I spin my Dave Van Ronk and the Hudson Dusters album; Romping Through The Swamp is the cut that usually cheers me up. Give her a try--you won't feel so sad about my inability to live up to your expectations.
Next time I buy tubes, or fruit at the supermarket, and have buyers remorse, I'll loudly proclaim "I AM A VICTIM!"

With eBay's new system there's no risk of retaliation. He certainly deserves it!
Well, this is going to be interesting. We know that realjazzcat will withhold the refund until the victim leaves him a positive feedback. He has done this many times before, that's how he keeps his feedback rating.
However, the buyer in this case knows that his only leverage is to withhold feedback until he gets his refund. So, who will blink first? I think the buyer is giving realjazzcat 24 hours after receiving the bad tube back, to give him the refund. If realjazzcat does not, the buyer will leave negative feedback and report him to Paypal and eBay.
While I obviously agree that realjazzcat deserves the negative (and many, many more), if you give your word, you should make good on it (as distasteful as it may be). The question is, will realjazzcat trust the buyer to make good on it? He's such a dishonest liar and thief himself, I doubt he trusts anybody.
Here's another post about realjazzcat on the Tube Asylum that some people may have missed:
"Yeah, sounds like him. I sold a couple of used tubes on ebay to realjazzcat at $10 each. He found boxes for them and than sold them as NOS for over $50 each. What a loser, does not offer a refund, only an exchange for more rip off over priced tubes! What a piece of work."
Gerry
he also has a responsibility to put the screws to this bastard as much as he can.
Soooo..... Put the screws in and feel good about it, since there's no good solution for you.
Bass is supposed to sound big. 6.5" is not a woofer size.
Please note my dual status as reviewer and manufacturer. Take EVERYTHING I say with a grain of salt.
I've been SCREWED by eBay! RJC had my feedback removed due to eBay policies:

It was my suggestion to GOOGLE his user ID that was a violation! Can you believe it?! No wonder this scam artist continues to thrive.
