...that part of the demand driving the prices they can charge for their new equipment is from the used market? In other words, the fact that I can resell my equipment when I'm done makes me more willing to purchase it in the first place.
To a very large extent, the people buying used equipment at discount would not be customers if the only option was to buy new. So, if any manufacturers and/or dealers think that every used sale is cutting into their new sales, then they are misguided. It is short-sighted of EMM (and any others) to interfere in private used sales, as they are attacking a market that helps drive the demand for their new products.
If, as may be the case, EMM and AG have adopted this strategy to police the actual unauthorized sales of new equipment in one form or another, then I still disagree with their "brute force" method. They are assuming everyone is guilty until proven innocent, and there is apparently no way to prove your innocence. AudiogoN has certainly proven they are not the neutral party who could make such a determination.
I had seriously considered purchasing the EMM separates new recently, and the realization brought about by this thread just broke the camel's back--no EMM in the future for me.

I just saw the post regarding EMM for the first time today and I didn't have anything to do with it, so someone is using my moniker without my permision.

I was going to buy a new EMM player but now...not a chance, even if one came up used, how would one resell if they wanted too?
EMM's loss... there are just to many other players to choose from.
