There is a thread on the Audiogon Digital forum that Audiogon has closed. It's not the first one they've closed nor will it be the last, but the subject of the thread shifted to questioning why EMM Labs is having Audiogon delete any ads for their CDSA single box players without notice.Anyone else smell something fishy? This has been going on for a while there, as for example someone mentioned it on the phone because his ad for his personal CDSA there was deleted without explanation.
I can see manufacturers and distributors not allowing dealers to advertise new products there and agree with that, but preventing private owners from advertising their used players? Come on! It would seem there may be some (now) not so secret bribery ("protection") being paid by EMM to Audiogon to police the ads and delete them promptly.
What the hell? Such practices are patently fascist and bad for consumers and ultimately bad for the industry. Have Audiogon and EMM sunken to new lows, becoming fearful of growing public outrage about their actions? Further, why support Audiogon in any way since it only serves to enable and reinforce their behavior? Where will it end? Any bets as to whether Audiogon will delete the whole thread, which in my opinion would only confirm their (and EMM's) guilt?

What can you say about Audiogon that has not been said before? The folks that run it all suffer from the American disease.
No one has deleted them. Look under digital transport. Someone is making something up because they don't like EMM Labs. Audiogon was correct in deleting a false thread

...that part of the demand driving the prices they can charge for their new equipment is from the used market? In other words, the fact that I can resell my equipment when I'm done makes me more willing to purchase it in the first place.
To a very large extent, the people buying used equipment at discount would not be customers if the only option was to buy new. So, if any manufacturers and/or dealers think that every used sale is cutting into their new sales, then they are misguided. It is short-sighted of EMM (and any others) to interfere in private used sales, as they are attacking a market that helps drive the demand for their new products.
If, as may be the case, EMM and AG have adopted this strategy to police the actual unauthorized sales of new equipment in one form or another, then I still disagree with their "brute force" method. They are assuming everyone is guilty until proven innocent, and there is apparently no way to prove your innocence. AudiogoN has certainly proven they are not the neutral party who could make such a determination.
I had seriously considered purchasing the EMM separates new recently, and the realization brought about by this thread just broke the camel's back--no EMM in the future for me.

I just saw the post regarding EMM for the first time today and I didn't have anything to do with it, so someone is using my moniker without my permision.

I was going to buy a new EMM player but now...not a chance, even if one came up used, how would one resell if they wanted too?
EMM's loss... there are just to many other players to choose from.
that Audiogon is catering and sucking up more to manufacturers and dealers. EMM isn't the only manufacturer or dealer that has influenced the removal of an ad or forum thread. I guess you have to go where the money is, and from Audiogon's perspective the $6 per ad consumer fees aren't enough for them. It's good that they allow manufacturers and dealers to advertise on the site as it gives us consumers more options, but it's definitely wrong to let them have excessive influence over ads and threads. I doubt anything will change and it will probably get worse in the future.
They better give back something to manufacters;) I know agons not the site it used to be.But its still the best site to move or purchase new or used audio so what can ya do? I use the other sites about I hardly ever sell off them. The agon forums are fairly worthless.Does seem if a manufacter or anyone complains about posts they remove it.So I wonder if Brian might be partly right on this and if so it sure is a shady practice. So if you think or know a manufacter does so avoid product tell others to do so.Maybe they wont be so quick to police websites for used gear. And if manufacters are so worried why not just buy the used gear themselves?
None of the posts are by me despite the fact that someone is using my name-moniker.
