Pardon my ignorance... Why is that speaker labeled Mitsubishi and Nakamichi?

Follow Ups:
Nakamichi bought the rights to these about 1974 (I believe) to expand their product line. Hence, the addition of the Nakamichi plate. You can pull them off, I did. Nakamichi also produced their own version, the Slimline Reference, that used the same drivers. They sounded awful. (I had a pair, kept the drivers, ditched the cabinets.)
Funny, I was in the business back then, but don't remember hearing about this arrangement. I've never heard Japanese speakers I liked, including the pair of Pioneer CS-99A that I bought new. They were loud (I had a huge amp back then), but not very real.

How'd you pull off the Nakamichi badge? Mine seems to want to pull the fabric off with it.
If the screen is pulling, leave it.(the Nakamichi badge) It's metal and not replaceable.(the screen). Yours look really nice. Is the connector on the side? Back to your original post; I used a Fisher 400B successfully, sounded very nice, they can be had for a reasonable price; 300B's are good too. Ah yes, Sean Casper, seems like a talented builder. One of the few times Don spoke "sarcastically" about another builder,(at least for the record, see Art Dudley's column in Stereophile with Don). Sean had an AD1 based amp that looked interesting, but his 421a clone is just plain ugly. At some point you may want to take the back off and check the (1) Cap/autoformer crossover, they are 45 years old. Also, in my system, the thinner the speaker wire the better. Have fun, they are great speakers.
I have the connectors on the side but the speakers have been rewired and a monster cable 10 ft wire was attached to each and comes out a hole in the rear.. I'm going to terminate those and install banana jacks and use my very thin existing speaker cables (audience ohno)
The speakers are in great shape except there's some discoloration under the grilles. Doesn't look like there's a way to remove them so I'm not going to be OCD about it.... but I'd love to find someone who has done a restoration because yours look so uniform and lovely!

This is what's on the back of those Nakamichi plates. If I remember correctly I might have warmed them up ever so slightly. Also my data plate and Canon plugs. I hooked my speaker cable directly to the speaker inside. (it had the cheap old school spring loaded terminals, I replaced them, can't remember with what.)
The finish on mine is pretty decent, probably helped along the original fitted linen slip covers, which I no longer have. I also have an original set of frequency and resistance plots performed by the Factory. (Can't locate them at the moment).
I don't think you can do much under the grills. Yours look good, might try some furniture oil first. I don't think they are making any more of this Mahogany anymore. I'd hang onto the data plates also, I presume you have the ones that are Kana Script. If you google Triode Labs, I'm sure there are some reviews out there.
I might try to pull the plate off too.
Not usually sold in the US but maybe by Nakamichi in the US?Clearly not horns. Maybe 90 dB? Not SET friendly in my view but...
Nice PP amp with a bit of power might make them sing.
Certainly no a great of a find as the original eBay listing would suggest IMNSHO.
That said, if they were mine I would enjoy them being driven by a decent EL-34/KT-88 PP amp.

Yeah I was using Horns as a generic term for high efficiency speakers.... like an idiot.
According to the website below, they show 96 dB/W. Nice looking speakers and might work well with a SET amp.
And SETs may do nicely indeed. Worth a try, I think.
