I have the connectors on the side but the speakers have been rewired and a monster cable 10 ft wire was attached to each and comes out a hole in the rear.. I'm going to terminate those and install banana jacks and use my very thin existing speaker cables (audience ohno)
The speakers are in great shape except there's some discoloration under the grilles. Doesn't look like there's a way to remove them so I'm not going to be OCD about it.... but I'd love to find someone who has done a restoration because yours look so uniform and lovely!
Follow Ups:
This is what's on the back of those Nakamichi plates. If I remember correctly I might have warmed them up ever so slightly. Also my data plate and Canon plugs. I hooked my speaker cable directly to the speaker inside. (it had the cheap old school spring loaded terminals, I replaced them, can't remember with what.)
The finish on mine is pretty decent, probably helped along the original fitted linen slip covers, which I no longer have. I also have an original set of frequency and resistance plots performed by the Factory. (Can't locate them at the moment).
I don't think you can do much under the grills. Yours look good, might try some furniture oil first. I don't think they are making any more of this Mahogany anymore. I'd hang onto the data plates also, I presume you have the ones that are Kana Script. If you google Triode Labs, I'm sure there are some reviews out there.
