Are you going this year? --- We're going for one day for sure. We have our Rolling Stones tickets already... I hope Mick and the Boys can 'Hang on' for another couple months.....
Follow Ups:
I'm definitely going, can't miss it. It's overpriced, overcrowded, hot, and muggy, but still one of this country's greatest cultural events. Should be on every music lover's bucket list to attend at least once.
I'll probably skip the Stones day unless somebody gifts me with a ticket (it happens). It will be historic, but it's going to be a zoo. Maybe the last opportunity to see the band. They have so may ties to New Orleans, there is sure to be a surprise guest or three at that show. I'll just have to live with my memories of having seen them at their peak 50 years ago (and a few times since).
My favorite day is first Thursday, when the crowds are a bit more manageable and locals get a nice discount. We ride bikes and park 'em behind a friend's house in the neighborhood. There are always block parties, and we're sure to run into somebody we know to hang with.
NOLA can be frustratingly third-worldish at times, but it is always entertaining.
. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
I've only see the Stones one other time. And oddly enough it was in New Orleans at the Super Dome in 2019..... They were supposed to play at Jazz fest that year, but Mick had Surgery, so they postponed until July...
I thought the Super Dome would have awful acoustics, but I was shocked how great they sounded. The Audio/Visual Tech of the Stones show was off the charts. They had 4 large screens from Floor to Ceiling of the Band, so everything was easy to see... And they Sounded Great !!
Last year we saw Santana -- Awesome as well!
