I posted this on the other asylum, but Klipsch.com has its own forum full of rabid Klipsch fans. You can do a search there. I only heard each once and thought they both were perfectly fine. Seems like the La Scalas were very good and was told they do better with lower power than the Cornwalls though I wouldn't want to swear to it, the both did fine with 2 watts. I have only been recently exposed to Klipsch, so I will let the real experts weigh in further.

I've owned both. IMO the Cornwall is a pretty good speaker and the LaScala a very flawed one. The LS's lack of bass extension makes it's flamethrower upper midrange stand out all the worse. I always fall back on industrial tools like Sawzalls and Skilsaws to describe the sound of the LaScala (and Heresey). The Cornwall however goes considerably deeper in the bass and that gives it a much more robust and natural tonality that makes a big difference in how it sounds compared to the LS.Both speakers have excellent clarity and dynamics, the LS is probably a little better at dynamics but the CW is still a dynamics champ.
My opinion ya understand but an opinion based on considerable experience with both. I've modified both speakers to get better sound but in the end came to the conclusion I'm better off with an Altec from the get-go rather than a Klipsch that's been modified into an Altec.
I haven't owned both, only heard them so I think the original poster would do well to listen to your advice. What do you think of the Chorus II which is supposed to be the Cornwall's successor (prior to them bringing it back)? Might be a moot point since I have a pair on the way, just curious. I would have given serious consideration to Altec but they are just too big and they are pretty expensive. Never did compare the size between the two, it might not be as big a size differential as I suppose. The Chorus II were inexpensive so I said what the heck.

I had a pair of Chorous II's and an Academy center channel for many years and liked all 3 of them. The Chorous II's were 101db/1watt/1meter. Make sure you upstream is clean, else the warts will shine right through. I had a receiver that only the Chorous II's would expose its noise. An average 92db speaker (or lower) hid the receiver's noise. Ended up having to use a separate amp to get rid of the noise.

Thanks, why did you part with them?
I redid my home theater room with smaller speakers to match all the way around (7.1). I could not find side and rear channels to match the fronts. I tried Klipsch's new line, but don't like them compared to their heritage line. I kind of regret getting rid of them now.
The wordwork on the cabinets was great. You could almost cut your fingers on the 90 degree corners. They were in mint condition and I sold them to a man who lived in the same state as the factory. They traveled the US and made it back home again =).
