This album was referred to in a post a while back; I thought I would share my recent experiences. I prefer not to analyse music, especially music to which I connect emotionally, but some is required if I want to describe it... but I will keep it brief, for my sake and yours!A Lost Connection is an evolution of the [Distance] style. ALC begins as somewhat propulsive with sedated-beats and an almost danceable feel, yet progressively develops a more subtly rolling momentum. Overall, ALC seems sonically denser and more shadowy than [Distance], with some lovely melodies and almost-drones complemented with some occasional subtle electronic blips/clipped textures. ALC seems to have shed the very slight electronic-lounge/chilled influence of [Distance]. The differences between the two albums are slight but significant. For me, emotionally, ALC seems to develop a more brooding and melancholy feel.
Okay, it should be evident I like A Lost Connection, even if it is avail only as MP3 (320 kbit/s), IIRC. Marconi Union produced this album in higher quality digital and are considering releasing it different formats in the future. [Distance] was one of my fave purchases last year and on the basis of a few brief listens I like A Lost Connection at least as much. Of course, this is only my (low-cred) view of this album at the mo'… let’s see if it is as much a keeper as [Distance].
Cheers
Edit: added a little extra about how the album develops and tidied up some descriptions.

Thanks,
Some of their earlier stuff is on CD, correct?
They're getting higher on my list!!
That's what we're paid for, that's what we're paid for here
Yes, [Distance] and their debut are on CD. I can vouch for [Distance], tho not the earlier stuff.
These guys surely have some cred - IIRC, Eno brought them in to remaster some of his work.
Cheersies
