This album was referred to in a post a while back; I thought I would share my recent experiences. I really don't like to analyse music, especially music to which I connect emotionally, but some is required if I want to describe it... but I will keep it brief, for my sake and yours!
A Lost Connection is very much in the style as [Distance]. ALC is more subtly propulsive, yet with a rolling momentum at times. It seems sonically deeper, and denser with the (very) occasional subtle blip for added interest. Possibly more shaded and shapeless. It is more in the direction of melodic ambient and less electronic lounge/chilled (not that [Distance] was in this style either). These differences are very slight but significant. For me, emotionally, ALC seems slightly more brooding, melancholy, subtle, insidious, and somehow organic and of-a-whole.
Okay, it should be evident I like A Lost Connection, even if it is avail only as MP3 (320 kbit/s), IIRC. Marconi Union produced this album in higher quality digital and are considering releasing it different formats in the future. [Distance] was one of my fave purchases last year and I like A Lost Connection at least as much. Of course, this is only my (low-cred) view of this album at the mo'.
Cheers
