I have a Xiang Pheng PH708 tube headphone amp that I leave my AKG Q701 headphones connected to. When I turn the amp on and it powers up I can hear the power surge through the phones. Is this damaging to my headphones?
Follow Ups:
A bit of noise at startup is almost inevitable with tube amps. With my Sonett tube amp, the initial rush of current creates an audible resonance that gradually disappears over the course of a minute, it's "dead quiet" after that.I believe that the sound of "tube rush" is harmless, but as a precaution you might keep the volume knob turned down to 0 when not using the system so that transient noises cannot be transmitted to the headphones at startup.

Yes, that makes a whole lot of sense. Thank you for that.
