... and the Blue Hawaii amp are said to be the only amps capable of driving the Stax 007 and 009 really well. Both amps cost thousands of $$$ if (or when) you can find them - it's one of the drawbacks of electrostatic headphones.

I'm simply basing my statements on informed hearsay - which anyone here is welcome to refute. The Blue Hawaii amp is based upon the design of the Stax T-2, and strangely enough, the Blue Hawaii turns out to be the most highly rated amp among those tested by Tyl Hertsens in the review you have linked us to (above). It is also the first choice of inmate "Mikel" here at AA (who can afford most any headphone amp on the planet, BTW). And, searching the archives here, you'll find that Enjoythemusic reviewer, experienced electrostatic headphone user, and AA inmate "Jon L" has posted his opinion regarding the Stax T-2 amp - which the Blue Hawaii amp is based upon...
