Recently picked up a Torpedo Headphone amp. This is one excellent sounding unit. I had a PS Audio GCHA before this, and the Torpedo sounds better by a fair bit. It's very quiet, and the 6J6 tubes are cheap, plentiful, and sound great.
Anyone else own one of these? What are your impressions?

I've considered building the "half kit" that is available.
What headphones are you driving? I would be using Beyerdynamic DT-990 (600 Ohm).

I'm using Beyerdynamic T-1 (600 ohm), and it sounds great with the Torpedo.

I might consider it. Is it transformer coupled or OTL? I'm currently using a Crack Bottlehead amp.
I would love a pair of T-1s.

The unit has separate transformers for each channel. I think they are made by Edcor, and they make excellent transformers.
I was curious about your bottlehead OTL. I'll look into it.
I am very happy with the T-1's. These may be the last set of cans I'll ever get

The price tag for the T-1s is the only thing that's keeping me away.

How much are they and do they come assemble for the assembly challenged individual (like me)??
Steve
Sorry, Mate. Just saw this. You can get this fellow to assemble one for a reasonable fee (Link to his website below). If you get one, be sure to get the upgraded coupling caps.
