JBL 52/82 are classics - especially with their waffle grill grills..

In 1991-92, my housemate Todd had a sleek wetsuit. He used it for both surfing and snorkeling.
Anyway, Todd had some Bose "Stereo Everywhere" floorstanding speakers. They cost what for us was a pretty penny: around $600.
Todd's roommate, Doug, brought some generic JBL bookshelf loudspeakers, which cost less than $300.
We changed nothing in the system. We swapped speakers. Everyone, including Todd himself, agreed that, other than bass extension, the JBL was superior. The JBL was more accurate, transparent, revealing, lively, and fast. But I don't think we knew about waffle-shaped speaker grilles!
Are they cold?

Don't let the photos fol you; the ocean water off of Central California is cold, almost always in the 50's. This was my daughter on the Municipal Wharf. The Main Beach," as it's called, is in front of the Boardwalk.

During the winter quarter, Santa Cruz holds a clam chowder fest. Sometimes, the water temperature in the winter is actually a couple degrees less cold than in spring.
