You want neutral. How large is the room? How close are you to the speakers? Did you mean a power amp or integrated? What is the D/A from system to amp? Look on Craigslist if you have that where you live. Right now where I live there is a killer Rotel 200wpc. $200, NAD, A killer Adcom pre, cd, amp $350 and dropping because Adcom is your grandmother's Buick of mid-fi, a home brew Marantz power amp made from AliEx knockoff modules with 2 built in oscilloscopes to set bias and offset 125wpc $200. I have an Adcom gfa5400 $200, a Proceed amp 2 $290 plus gas, Music Hall 15.3 $200, all very neutral sounding. Also an AliEx Krell/Pass Labs knockoff with one hour on it $100, 20wpc of glorious class A. If you need something cheap and powerful the big Yamaha AV receivers with the amber display sound phenomenal $50 at Goodwill. As much as receivers are gushed over here and AK, separates even in the low end of hifi are a step up. PS when buying on CL, never buy unless you can hear it for yourself. A seller may want meet at a neutral spot, ask the buy to put a vid of it playing out of both channels on YT or pass on it. The above especially goes for Fleabay, you WILL get burned and they will back the seller not you. Back in the day I had Studio Ones and a BK EX442.

thank you for your input and consideration. I am in Portugal, we have OLX, no craiglist, no ebay, people in Portugal inflate prices of used electronics as if they were new and vintage is out of hand, its ridiculous. I am veering towards some UK brands, recent post 20000 amps, Rega, Cambridge Audio, Roksan, NAD, Audiolab, and then maybe Hegel, Rotel...
When you get the list narrowed down do a search for "Your Amp" problems and see what is reliable. I used to live in southeast Massachusetts USA, where there are more Azorians than in the Azores. I so miss massa bread and linguica and fried peppers sandwiches.
