I really didn't get any laughs from reading this:

nor did your initial defense of "at this rate" pertain to humor or sarcasm.

the following reads funny? or humorous? or sarcastic?

In fact, at this rate, they'll probably surpass the Technics SL1200 as the best-selling turntable of all time in just a few years."

btw, if you want sarcasm to work, you must provide enough hint to the reader that the sarcasm actually exists or the comment is so outrageous that it could not be true. you seemed quite serious in tone in the rest of the article so I'm completely perplexed.
