Every pair of dissimilar metals forms a little diode. That is, voltage has to exceed some (tiny) amount before any appreciable conduction takes place. And I think the voltages are different in the two directions. If there's a dc bias, no problem. But for ac signals that go through a plethora of dissimilar contacts (think of your CD player and particularly your phono signal) those can add up. Avoiding dissimilar metals is a good idea, though not much attention is paid to it.
