Hi LarBo,If you plan to solder the connections, I think a gold Furutech INLET(G) IEC inlet featuring solder tabs would be a better option, since a primary benefit of the gold Furutech FI-10(G) IEC inlet and gold FI-09(G) IEC inlet is their solderless set-screw connection method (actually the FI-09 features a full-on clamping plate method)... a soldered connection would defeat their purpose and value, IMHO. While the INLET(G) is a low-cost product, it’s nonetheless a very worthy upgrade from a typical nickel plated "computer grade" IEC inlet.
I can't comment on the sound nor installation issues of an FI-09(G) since I have no experience of it, but there are differences between the FI-10(G) and the INLET(G).
IME, installation of an FI-10(G) IEC inlet (featuring set screw terminals) required enlargement of the chassis entry hole (it was a PITA but worthwhile). I find the FI-10(G) to provide a more robust and warmer presentation (and likely the FI-09(G), too) as compared to a stock IEC inlet. However, one of my components actually sounded better via the use of a typical IEC inlet rather than use of an FI-10(G) IEC inlet. Most likely, in that case, a rhodium Furutech IEC inlet would have been a better option than either.
The Furutech INLET(G) was a cinch to install since it’s dimensions were the same as the stock IEC inlet being replaced, and the INLET(G)’s solder tabs (when soldered) sounded better than use of quick-disconnect connectors (snipped-off then summarily dumped in the trash...).
