I was trying to say that if you isolate a component from everything else, any vibration inside it has no way out. I do think there is a trade off but I also think isolation is better than no isolation!!
In my experience you want the isolation as close as possible to the component. Thus, isolating each shelf is better than isolating the stand. This also means the shelves is isolated from each other.
A little case damping and possibly using Blu Tak on the tray in the CDP will help matters.
Rollers can be very effective but are less than perfect if you have small kids, friends who... partake of liquid refreshment or, as in my case, cats who jump.
Constrained layer platforms are easy to try and can be a pretty good middle ground.
