Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I have a newly purchased FM-3 that has noticeable and varying hiss compared to my best FM-3 (using same antenna feed, amp, etc).
Would this be tube hiss? There is no hum, just a variable volume hiss that is more noticeable with increase in playback volume, although only noticeable at all during quieter music passages. And only on weaker station, although my better FM-3 has no hiss on same station.
Tube hiss or just alignment? Which tubes would be the likely culprit(s) in an FM-3.
I have read that an alighnment is always recommended for most tube changes in an FM-3, so thre is that complication.
