Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I have a factory-modified Rogue Atlas that's wired in triode (among many other upgrades making this a very worthy amp) and I'm currently using JJ's in it to drive a pair of Silverline Sinfonia loudspeakers. It sounds a little too much like SS and I want a tube that will sound a little more "tubey" without losing all my detail and without too many microphonics and hiss. I'm not worried if I lose any bass since I have separate monoblocks driving built-in rear-firing subs. Naturally, of course, I don't want to lose too much on the highs, but don't mind if it starts rolling off at 14-16Hz (since I can't hear much above that anyway and there' not much I want to hear above that, either). Any ideas will be appreciated. I need four of these, so finding and purchasing them should be possible (not impossible as with some hard-to-find NOS tubes). My amp requires manual biasing, so the tubes do not need to be a matched quad.
