I use Sovtek KT88 in place of the 6L6/5881 in my AN P2PP (this is not the SE version). They bias just the same (ie, the same plate current) as the 6L6 variants in this circuit, and sound better to my ears than any flavour of 6L6 that I tried (including the expensive NOS versions of this tube) or the various 6550s I tried. The Sovteks have a smaller (lower height) bulb that allows the tubes to fit with the P2 case on (6550s don't). They are more punchy and have much more balanced sound. The 6L6 tubes tend to be more mid-range oriented with weaker bass and treble. YMMV, of course.
