Are you referring to the Audio Note P2 (Push-Pull) or P2 SE (Single-Ended) amp? I have a P2 SE that I bought in 1995 that I still use. A very nice amp that I've never had a problem with. I use the P2 SE with Audio Note AN/J speakers. As far as power tubes go, the stock tubes are Sovtek 5881. I've also used Phillips 5881/6L6 WGB and Tung-Sol 5881 (New Production) tubes. My feeling is that the Sovtek tubes have the most neutral sound with the P2 SE. The choice of input tube also makes a difference and I am partial to NOS Tung-Sol 6SL7 tubes in their various varieties. I have five pairs of different Tung-Sol types. Others I've used are Brimar, Phillips 5691, Raytheon VT-229, RCA 5691, and Sylvania VT-229. They're all good. It just depends on how you want to flavor your music.
