A few final comments. For my first DIY project I built the VTV 6SN7 linestage mosly due to the "cult" following for this tube, especially some of the older versions. But, I didn't want to spend tons of money on the tubes, so I was attracted to the 6F8G. With the 6F8G I got a cool looking tube for not much money that was made in the 40's and gave me various constructions similar to the high priced 6SN7's. And I could follow a proven design.

I've now picked up a collection of type 27's that I'm eyeing for a future linestage project. And then there are those DHT's that the real hardcore experimenters rave about in spite of the hum and microphonics problems.......
