He (and I) want to know WHAT IS DIFFERENT about the tubes, as is physically different. Are the tolerances greater? Are they gassier? Do they use a different or more variable cathode coating? Different sound MUST mean one or more physical differences, and he and I would both like to know what those differences are.Sonic differences among tubes should be something measurable, like plate resistance or input capacitance or grid alignment (on tetrodes and pentodes).
