Granite Audio 657 variable tube output and the earlier 650 only used. Not widely recognized but very high caliber machines. Full fleshy sound but nimble, very clean, great PRAT have a sound similiar to more expensive CD players, not warm, colored or British Reveals the disk as engineered but upsamples. They aren't seen used very often, people seem to keep em. Search this asylum for Granite. I got my $1,600 machine for $400 used which was a generation old at that time. Current is the 657 tubed variable output @ about $3,000 new. I am certain you could pick one up if anyone was selling for under a $1,000.
I just got a Consonance Linear 120, I thinks it's great, purity and simplicity personified. No up sampling, no op amps just the most honest tone you ever heard delivered with PRAT better than the Granite. There is an upsampling model both around $1,000 New, a demo is usually around, less.r
Finally I could help you locate a Jolida 100A at very very low price, if that should be your choice. I know the original owner, very well, he or she will sell it in the original box, funtioning perfectly with pristine working remote. Overall it looks great. Sold with virtually unused Jolida original tubes and a another set of better sounding tubes which are the buyer's option for additional cost. I can hook you up with the owner. E-mail me on the side.
