thanks for the information Mechans.I have noticed that some of the tubes I may have been interested in do seem to sell for quite a bit of money.
A kind gentleman in the UK is lending me a pair of NOS GE 5751s (not sure which type) to try out in my amp. I should be able to tell if they are providing any improvement over my Sovtek 12AX7s and then make a decision if I want to try any other 5751s.
I got a bit worried where you mentioned that GE tubes 'were the least likely Triple Mica to get burned on in my experience'.
I have never heard of tubes burning on. Is this a common problem and how can I avoid it happening/which tubes to avoid?
I'll drop you an email if my testing of the GE 5751s goes well and I want to find another 5751 to compare them to.
