Again, having never owned an original ST70, I cannot say for sure regarding the Amplitube quad cap. I do believe, though, that he tried to duplicate every part faithfully. As I recall, only the included driver board was "upgraded" in the kit, though it still retained the stock design (the original driver boards I have seen look like a disaster waiting to happen!)
All that said, it is generally acknowledged that the quad cap is one of the weakest links in the ST70 design, from both a reliability and a sound quality standpoint. It seems to be "de rigeur" to upgrade the capacitance FIRST. I left mine in place, but it is completely disconnected.
