Mullard EL34 reissues....

Hi,

I just tried a quad of Mullard El-34 reissues in my MV-60 amp (12AX7LPS, GE6SN7 GTB side getter) replacing the 2002 original Svetlana before they became SED.

I found the Mullards, even with 2 hrs on them, to be more smooth/less glare, fuller, airier/bloom, deeper bass and detailed then the Svets but probably this could be due to the age/use of the Svets but as I recall even if new the Mullards would still have these traits over the Svets.

The things I noticed Mullards don't do as well as the Svets is in microdynamics are not as snappy and Svets have a richer tone overall. I guess more yin as opposed to more yang for the Mullards. Surprisingly, the overall sonic signature is similar to the EH El-34 I use to use but every positive trait over the Svets applies here too. A sweeter, warmer refined version of the EH. In any event Mullard reissues have great potential.

Any users of Mullard reissue EL-34s have simliar findings?

I ideally would like to find a new production EL-34 which combines the positive traits of the Mullard and Svet. Any suggestions?

Would the new SED EL-34 be better than my original Svets as construction looks a bit less robust on the SED?

BTW I have never heard NOS Mullards.

Thanks!*>)
