If your system is already well-balanced, a Mullard ECC82 can tip it to the warm, dull, slovenly, slow side. Note that, in the 80s, when we had obnoxious-sounding CD sound, sticking a Mullard 12A_7 somewhere in the system often worked to ameliorate that harshness. But in modern-day systems, many of which sound sweet, full-bodied, and smooth, the Mullard small signal tubes are the wrong choice.-Lummy The Seahorse
