to each his own. I bought a pair of new SED EL34s from some ebay seller and they were pathetically awful. Even my Eico 667 tube tester agreed. I had used SED 6550s earlier with great success. Now I have a great pair of JJ KT77s (never tried their EL34s) and think they sound better -- in my system -- than any of the 3 pairs of Mullard El34s I own. So it goes.
