In my system, to my ears, the KT 88-98's are a slightly better sounding tube than the Penta KT88SC's. Although now, with the Penta's reaching a couple hundred hours use they are getting very close.But the 88-98's have that nice inner glow and are a little cheaper (if you buy them matched). I believe they are about the same if you get the 88-98's matched from the Tube Depot and the SC's unmatched from Penta.
