Not sure that I'm answering the original question about 6CA7's in triode mode, but the follow ups so far do indicate that the EL34's and 6CA7's are virtually the same in their overall construction and designation. And I will have to add my $0.02 worth when it comes to triode operation of the JJ E34L's......I too run these babies in triode mode about 90% of the time instead of ultra and really do love the relaxed wide open sound stage that they present.....and I might add that I have built switching capabiltiy into my amp so I CAN compare the ultra to the triode mode.....got VERY tired of getting the ole soldering iron out everytime I wanted to switch around....really do like the convenience of this feature I added.
