I'd agree with Len's assessment of the T-S 5687. While I find it to be nicely textured and throws a good sound stage lean is not a word that comes to mind. Somewhat lacking in detail but again that seems to directly contradict what you're hearing. In this family of tubes I've found the T-S 5687 to be the smoothest and richest sounding (and also the least detailed) with the Sylvania 7044 being the most detailed (now there's a tube that could be called "hi-fi-ish" IMHO) and the Amperex 7119 occupying the middle ground. Now I'm using these for the output stage in my CD player, so a different application may very well yield different results. For some reason, I seem to remember that Audio Note originally used 7044's for their preamps and stocked up on them. They are supposed to have a reputation for being somewhat microphonic, but I haven't found that to be the case when I've used them.
Good luck in your search.
Joe
