The 6h23 or 6n23 (same tube) was the Soviet era clone of the 6922. It is a direct replacement for the 6922. The only valid comparisons would be between brands/manufacturers and vintages since they are electrically the same tube. My personal favorite 6h23's are made by Voskhod from the 1970's & 1980's. I do not care for the ones made by Reflektor, but some folks prefer these to the Voskhods. Whatever floats yer boat I guess. The basic grade of the 6h23 is the 6h23-pi. I use the notation pi because I do not know how to make the Greek symbol pi with the ASCII characterset. The other commonly available type is the 6h23-EB. This is a ruggedized, low vibration, long life version. This is typically the one I am told that the Soviet military used. In the right application the 6h23 can be an outstanding performer. I use them in the phono section of my preamp. They have oodles of gain and are quiet as a stone.
