I broke an OD3 mercury vapor tube in my basement (stupid, stupid, stupid). This is a mercury vapor regulator tube. It uses elemental mercury in an evacuated bulb, right? My concern is that it might contain organomercury, which is hell of bad for you. Elemental mercury isn't so bad- and there must be just a trace in the bulb. Anyhoo, I left.
Since I really don't know that much about what the various compositions of the metals are inside that envelope, can someone educate me as to some of the health dangers of a broken tube? Not just a regulator tube, but any tube- this seems to me to be a generally useful topic.
