The 7119 is an interesting sub for a 5687, which introduces a leaner more extended sound compared to a TungSol 5687. Dutch and US Amperex variants are commonly available and cheap. However, the best 5687 upgrade I've found by far is the 6900. These aren't cheap. Originally made mostly by Bendix to military requirements for use in missiles, it is very heavy-duty, using a Nonex Glass envelope and an internal structure tested to withstand 300Gs. Audio circuits run it very conservatively, so the $100+ cost per tube, when you find one, is mitigated by the fact that it will probably last the rest of your listening life.
