Unfortunately well-used tubes still can test "like new", and the magic is long gone. I can immediately hear the difference between a 6SN7 that has been used hard for a year and a NOS one. Big difference. The used one looks almost new, and tests just as good as a new tube. This is the big risk when buying used tubes that test good. How do you know they are only 100 hours, and not 1000 or 2000 hours??? Impossible to tell on EBAY etc. For this reason, I dont mind paying extra for NOS.
