Quiet Earth, hi. As long as you don't twist the glass too much one way or the other the tube should be fine. What is holding the base on now are the wires running from the bulb to the pins. Keep this in mind when removing or inserting tube. Hold by the base or else.If you are careful it is possible to unsolder the base pins. Removing the solder from the base pins, one by one, will allow the glass to be lifted up enough from the base/pins to re-glue the glass to the base. When the glue sets up you can resolder the wires.
I have used RTV (clear silicone caulk) to re-attach glass envolopes to bases. The RTV emits acetic acid while curing which should take no more than 8 hours. Silicone rubber is heat tolerant and also safe from an electrical standpoint. If you get any on the glass that is visible use a one sided razor blade to trim away. There are other glue/adhesive choices but I like RTV because it also will tend to shockmount by cushioning the envelope a bit as it rests on the base.
You can also attempt to introduce the RTV into any space now present and hope you get enough in to be effective. This always looked like a major chance to make a mess.
