I don't follow the 9-pin stuff much, got the decades confused, my mistake. I recall them being brought out near the end of a decade (which was the 40s apparently).but anyway, the best tubes were 20-30 yrs before that IMHO. ;-) (Gimme a 4-pin tube anyday over anything 9-pin...)
