Could be a bad tube. I have a Sonic Frontiers Line One preamp. A while back I experienced the same type of problem as you. When I switched line inputs, or mute, on the preamp I got a popping sound in the right speaker. Also I could here a light scratchy buzz noise in the right speaker. Turned out to be a bad tube. I replaced the bad tube No problem with popping since
