Velodyne is still in business. I would contact their service department and see what they have to say.

You can purchase a subwoofer plate amps from Part Express starting from $90. If you are OK with a small box amplifier you can purchase a Fosi or Aiyima subwoofer box amp for under $100, disconnect the existing plate amp, and wire the subwoofer driver to the subwoofer box amp.
