From reading your posts in the past seemed like you may have had a good balance between fingers on a keyboard and solder n sawdust on your shirt sleeves.You must know that running full range a woofer of that size, profile and surround is a bad deal. It's going to have a waterfall plot that looks like a cactus bristling with thorns, with possibly a Mount Everest resonance in the 4500 to 5000 range. It's also not likely that design has much BSL in that "back in the day xover"
Ive done many dozens of simple inductor fixes to " how they made speakers back in those days" ( with measurements). Except for two models, all were improvements to varying degrees and the friends and co- workers were rarely disappointed.
You also know your modeling a resistor not an actual driver with its frequency and impedance variances, so plots and points are vague at best.
The original poster seems keen to experience hands on work, let's not scare him off with "the book says it's all too scary and sacred ". Give him a chance and support to dare to fail
