The real problem with double Advents was the comb filter affect caused by the parallel tweeters. It made the sound diffuse and less clear.
I once was involved in a comparison for a friend of a friend between double Advents and my IMF Studio 2 speakers. We all preferred the IMFs. But what was more interesting was when after the comparison I got the idea of going to single Advents and the result was clearly what I described in the 1st paragraph. Double Advents were a hot item because Harry Pearson loved them. They did have more bass(better?) and a wider sound stage but it was as I said diffuse. Single Advents produced more information.
